Rural Business Driveway Planning Application
Client: Farm and Livery Stables Owner
Project: New Driveway Planning Application
Objective:
To secure planning permission for a new driveway at a rural business, providing all necessary information to the Borough Council and ensuring the application adheres to all relevant highway safety and other traffic requirements.
The Challenge:
The client required a new driveway to replace the existing farm access which involved a sharp U-turn onto the highway – particularly awkward and unsuitable for horseboxes and other large vehicles. The farm was on the inside of a long curve on the highway – a classified single carriageway B road with hedgerows hard against the narrow highway verge, restricting forward visibility for approaching trafffic - but needed to navigate the complexities of the planning application process, including providing detailed traffic survey data and meeting the Borough and County Councils’ requirements and deadlines.
The Solution:
Transport & Traffic Consultancy provided a comprehensive traffic survey and planning application support service, which included:
Detailed Traffic Survey: Commissioning a survey of traffic speed on the highway approaches to determine the optimum location for the new access for maximum visibility of, and from, any vehicle emerging from the access to minimise risk of collisions.
Information Provision: Supplying the Borough Council with all the required information in a clear, organised, and accessible format.
Proactive Management: Diligently monitoring the application's progress, keeping the Council to their deadlines, and proactively chasing them when necessary to avoid delays.
Professional Conduct: Maintaining a high level of professionalism in all interactions with the client and the Borough and County Councils.
Results:
The client successfully obtained planning permission for the new driveway. The Borough and County Councils were as satisfied with the comprehensive information provided, and the application progressed smoothly thanks to proactive management and adherence to deadlines.
Client Testimonial:
"Chris did an excellent job and provided the Borough Council with all the information that they required. He was very organised and had everything to hand that was required. He was also very good at keeping the County Council to their deadlines and chasing them when necessary. At all times, he was professional in all my dealings with him. I would happily recommend his services."
